Resize Lion Partition in Mac | How to resize OS X Partition

Need to resize Mac OS X Lion partition - is the most interesting and sought after topic among Mac users. A user who has either bought a new Mac or just upgraded to latest versions of OS X ie; 10.7. The user must be aware of the tips and tricks to manage partitions of Mac drive.

It cannot be denied that, almost all the partition related operations can be accomplished with inbuilt Mac disk utility but everyone doesn't find it handy to work with. There are some features in third party tools like Stellar Partition Manager, which brings them little closer to Mac users.

The users find such third party Mac utilities very easy to use for managing Mac partitions:
  1. Resizing
  2. Creating
  3. Deleting
  4. Formatting
Mac volumes.

How to resize Mac Lion partition ?

Step 1. Run Stellar Partition manager. The startup window has three sections.
a. Operation bar : It lists all the tasks that can be applied on the Mac disk.
b. Left Pane: It lists all the disks attached the machine.
c. It shows the current status of volumes on the drive , selected in left pane.



Step 2. Select the volume and resize it by dragging the slide from corner.


Note: The readers should note that it cannot be applied to modify partitions on current boot drive. For this, one needs to create a bootable DVD which can be created by this application itself.
