Mac partition – Resize , Create and Delete with Mac tool

The most common tool used to manage Mac partitions is Apple's Disk Utility. It was updated with Mac OSX. In prior versions of Mac OS ie; prior to Mac OS X, the functionality and features of Disk Utility could be found in the Disk First Aid application. As far as partitioning and formatting Mac drive is concerned, these tasks were accomplished through Drive Setup.
I have Mac OSX 10.6. and 40 GB hard drive with only two volumes – Bootable(Mac OS)- 26 GB and Non bootable(Data Drive)- 10 GB. I tried to ceate a new partition in bootable section but it took too much of time to understand the application and get my work done. Secondly, it warned me with a message that my data could be at risk. Although its free but not so easy to understand and use.

So, I used another Mac tool to manage partition – Stellar partition manager. Its great with an awesome interface. When I selected the drive it prompted me a message to create a bootable DVD to operate at main drive. That I did with the same application. After booting with this DVD, I can easily create new partition at Mac OS. Now I have three partitions on my Mac wih 20 GB, 10 GB and 10 GB of size.
Of course I had to pay $ 39.00 for Stellar partition manager but now I have an excellent Mac tool to resize , add and delete Mac partitions without any data loss. The extra features with this application are the options to hide or reveal a partition.

Create new Mac partitions with Stellar Partition manager

In the process of managing Mac partitions (either resize or deletion) there may remain free spaces on mac hard drive. These free spaces on hard drive can be used to neither to store data nor to install any application.

The best way to utilize these free spaces is to merge them to create new partition. The following diagram will put my point more clearly.

Mac Hard drive structure
P1
F1
P2
F2
P3

In the above diagram, F1 and F2 are scattered free spaces. These cannot be used in this status. To make it usable, its always suggested to merge these free spaces together. After merging, the new structure will be like this:

P1
P2
F1 F2
P3

Recently, A software I came to know, with such feature , is Stellar Partition manager. We can perform following operations by using this mac tool.

  1. Format
  2. Delete
  3. Hide
  4. Reveal
  5. Resize
  6. Shift
  7. New partitions

The free download version of Mac tool is available at http://www.stellarpartitionmanager.com/. The following picture gives a deeper observation of Stellar partition manager.
