Remove Windows 7 Bootcamp Partition in Mac Lion | Delete Bootcamp in Mac OS X 10.7

I want to delete bootcamp partition in Mac Lion which I have installed a few days ago. The windows 7 in bootcamp partition of Mac OS X 10.7 is not running and found corrupted. So, the best solution is to delete the partition and reuse the free space for some other partition.

The Mac application to delete bootcamp partition in Mac Lion , which I used , is Stellar Partition manager. Here are the options available for users:
  1. Create Mac partition
  2. Delete Mac partition
  3. Format Mac Partition
  4. Hide/ Reveal an existing partition

Steps to delete Windows boot camp partition from Mac disk:

The startup window is divided into three panes.
a. Tool bar : It lists all the operations that can be applied on the Mac disk.
b. Left Pane: Heres the list of all the disks attached with your Mac machine.
c. Right Pane: It shows the current status of volumes on the drive , selected in left pane.

Step 2. Select the Windows Partition you want to delete , click “delete” and Start the process.
Note: Its important to note here that if you want to delete a partition on current drive then you must create a bootable DVD and boot your Mac with it. This bootable DVD can be created by this application itself.

How Stellar partition manager is better than Disk utility of Apple?

The easy to understand interface and automatic shifting of free space (free space optimization) are advantages of this partition management tool over Apple disk utility.

How to Format a volume with Stellar partition manager

In last article we went through the importance or need of formatting a hard drive. Here, in this post we will go through the process involved in formatting hard disk.

The partition manager is a multipurpose, easy-to-use tool to operate on hard drives and external drives. Among other things, the partition manager can delete, format, create, hide and reveal partitions in hard drives.

How to erase Mac volume and format a hard drive?

This application can be used for both disks and volumes. It is important to note that the term 'disk' refers to a hard drive whereas a 'volume' is used for a formatted section of a disk. A disk must have a minimum of one volume. We can use partition manager to create multiple volumes on a disk.

It's very important to note the relationship between a disk and volumes existing in it. A volume can be formatted easily without affecting the rest of the disk, but once a disk is formatted, every volume on it, is formatted.

The interface of stellar partition manager is divided into three main sections:
1. A toolbar at the top
2. A vertical section on the left to show disks and volumes
3. Workspace on the right to perform the task on selected disk or volume.

We need to erase a Mac volume to free up hard drive space. There are many applications like Adobe Photoshop which need more contiguous disk space than other applications. Erasing a volume is a faster way of creating free space. There are so many Mac users who create small volumes to save their projects and then erase them before starting the next project.

Erase a Volume?
1. Select the volume to erase from the disks listed in the left side of window.
2. Click the "Delete" tab
3. Click continue
