When Apple released Mac Lion on 20 July 2011, more than 1 million Mac users downloaded the OS from Apple Apps store. Some have created a dual boot and rest removed their Mac OS X 10.6. The Apple boasts about more than 250 new features in Mac Lion and expects to break all the prior records of Mac sales.
The feature we are focusing upon is creating multiple partitions in Mac disk. The inbuilt tool to handle the task is Apple disk utility. But many of the novices and even tech savvy Mac users do not find this tool very user friendly. They ask for some easy to use third party tool for managing mac partitions.
If we talk about number of third party tools for Snow leopard then they are plenty in number but for Mac lion its very limited. Stellar Partition manager for Mac is one of those few Mac tools which provides all the legacy to perform all sorts of modifications in mac partitions. Here is list of tasks which can be performed with Stellar partition manager.
- Create new partitions
- Delete partitions
- Format Mac partitions
- Hide/Reveal partitions in Mac disk
- Resize partitions as per the requirement
Steps to create new partitions in Mac OS X 10.7
Step1. Run Stellar partition manager. Heres a screenshot of startup window.
Step2. Click “Add” button from toolbar, mention the size of partition and start the process by clicking “start” button.
Step3. Task is done. You can resize the partition size by simply dragging the corner resize button.
Note: The important point to note here is – One cannot apply this partition manager to modify partitions on current drive. For this, one needs to create a bootable DVD which can be created by this application itself.
